Sara’s life, though tragically shortened, was marked by love, dedication, and the indelible impact she made on the lives of her family, students, and community.
Sara was the proud mother of two young boys, aged 5 and 7, and cherished her time with her husband, Rusty, and their loyal dog, Grif. Her home was a place of warmth, joy, and laughter, where she nurtured her children with unconditional love and guided them with care and compassion.
Before her diagnosis, Sara devoted 15 years as a full-time Social Studies teacher, serving as a club advisor and swim coach while inspiring students with her dedication and enthusiasm. She also served on the board of a suicide prevention non-profit and ran a small business helping people get organized, reflecting her lifelong commitment to helping others. Friends and colleagues remember her as an advocate, mentor, and someone who always championed the well-being of those around her.
Outside of her professional work, Sara’s passions included yoga, dancing in her kitchen, and finding joy in the everyday moments of life. She approached life with curiosity, energy, and a generosity of spirit that left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Sara was diagnosed with ALS in March 2023, a year after the onset of her symptoms. While the diagnosis brought immense challenges, Sara approached her condition with courage, honesty, and love.
